Fentura Financial, Inc. (OTCQX:FETM), the holding company for The State Bank, has completed its previously announced acquisition with St. Charles based Community Bancorp, Inc., the holding company for Community State Bank, and will be operating as one company effective December 31, 2016.
Together both banks have provided personalized services to their respective communities for over 194 years. As locally based community banks, the unique banking needs of the families and businesses in the area have been a primary focus. This partnership will only strengthen the community ties to create a stronger presence in mid-Michigan for the future.
Approved by both boards of directors on March 24, The State Bank’s acquisition of Community State Bank has grown the company to approximately $680 million in assets, $535 million in loans and $580 million in deposits. The State Bank’s branch offices have doubled to 16 locations, predominately serving mid-Michigan markets. The transaction has strengthened The State Bank’s foothold as the largest Bank headquartered in Genesee County.
“We are excited for the opportunity to partner with an organization that believes, as we do, in the power of true community banking. The combined solid core deposit base allows us to take advantage of asset growth opportunities in both the acquired markets and our broader market area,” said Ron Justice, President and CEO of Fentura Financial, Inc. and The State Bank.
John Wendling, President and CEO of Community State Bank added, “We are very pleased to be joining with a larger community bank that is committed to delivering a high level of customer service. We believe that this transaction will be beneficial to our shareholders, customers and employees. We will now be able to make larger loans and offer additional services to our customers.”
Ronald L. Justice will continue to serve as President and CEO of Fentura Financial, Inc. and The State Bank. John C. Wendling, Community’s President and CEO will serve as an Officer of The State Bank.
“Many exciting new products and services will be extended to these new markets and we look forward to completing the integration of The State Bank and Community State Bank’s systems in the 2nd quarter of 2017,” Justice said.
