Summer is in the air and festival season is in full swing in Michigan. Communities around the state will host a variety of celebrations, and it is the perfect opportunity to see what Pure Michigan is all about. Native Michiganders and visitors alike, there’s something for everyone happening this month.   

Week of June 16 – June 22

Tecumseh’s Classic Car & Bike Show
June 19, Tecumseh
Get your motor running and head to Tecumseh to see over 200 cars and motorcycles on display in the United Bank & Trust Hickman Financial Center parking lot located at 205 E. Chicago Blvd. and the adjacent downtown parking lot from 6–8pm for all to enjoy.

Antiques on the Bay Classic & Antique Auto Show
June 20 – 21, Saint Ignace
The first of three auto-related events features restored classic and antique vehicles on display along the downtown waterfront. Entertainment and autos dating 25 years or older are all part of the fun. Registration and a Mackinac Bridge Rally are slated for Friday, with autos on display Saturday. Admission is free for the public.

June 20 – 22, Detroit
The 2014 festival will continue to celebrate Detroit’s maritime, ecological and culinary culture while again featuring many proven crowd-favorite, family-friendly activities and programming elements from previous festivals. Interactive exhibits, large-scale sand sculptures, strolling entertainers, eco-friendly kids’ zones, carnival rides, and live concerts with performances featuring more than 50 local, national and international music acts will be back this year. $3 admission fee, after 5pm admission is $5.

Spring Fest Arts & Crafts Fair
June 21 – 22, Pentwater
Experience the beauty of spring and summer at our annual Arts and Craft Festival. Over 100 vendors provide hand-made crafts, a special skill or art, a skilled trade or antiques on the Village Green. We’ll have live music on the Green. This is a weekend not to miss.

Ford Fireworks
June 23, Detroit
The Parade Company is excited to pump up the City of Detroit, on June 23rd as we produce the 56th Ford Fireworks presented by Target, along the Detroit River. This event attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators for one of the most anticipated summer nights in Detroit,  one of the nation’s largest fireworks displays.

Ann Arbor Summer Festival
June 13 – July 6, Ann Arbor
The Ann Arbor Summer Festival is an exhilarating celebration of performing arts, outdoor entertainment, and community spirit. A boutique music and arts festival, the three-week gathering offers dozens of performances, activities, exhibitions, and screenings representative of the best in music, dance, comedy, film, circus and street arts, and family entertainment. the Ann Arbor Summer Festival produces two concurrent programs, one indoor and one outdoor, at various venues and spaces across the University of Michigan campus and in downtown Ann Arbor.

June 27, Sault Sainte Marie
A Michigan landmark will open its doors to the public, when the Soo Locks hosts its annual open house Soo Locks Engineers Day on Friday June 27, 2014. The day celebrates the engineers who built the Soo Locks along with the men and women of the past and present who maintain the Locks. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invite people of all ages to come explore the Soo Locks and avail themselves the rare opportunity to walk across the Lock walls. These walls make it possible for freighters to traverse the 21-foot drop between Lake Superior and the lower Great Lakes. To gain a real understanding of how this engineering marvel works only a visit will do.

Lansing Beer Fest
June 28, Lansing
Lansing Beer Fest, Saturday June 28, 2014, 1pm – 6pm. Come out and enjoy the downtown Lansing area of Reo Town. Lansing Beer Fest is an outdoor beer festival on Washington Avenue that will exclusively feature 30 Michigan Breweries and 100+ craft beers. Food trucks, live music, vendors and more! Visit the website link for ticket information and featured breweries. This is a rain or shine event. Event held on Washington Avenue in front of Reo Town Pub.

Yoga At The Detroit Zoo A Record Setting Event
June 29, Royal Oak
Join The Yoga Movement at the Detroit Zoo on Sunday, June 29, 2014, for a special morning of yoga, music and fun. Participants will also have the opportunity to be part of an attempt to set the new Guinness World Record for “Longest Yoga Chain”. From beginner to expert, Yoga At The Zoo! is for everyone who enjoys yoga or wants to try it. Afterwards, participants can enjoy the Detroit Zoo at their leisure. Participation is limited to 2,500 and open to all ages. Tickets are $30 and available at the website link.

Harbor Festival
June 27 – July 6, Ludington
Harbor Festival is filled with nine days of exciting activities for you and your family to enjoy. With everything from touring our historic lighthouses to letting your little ones take spin on the Baby Badger, or taking in the incredible fireworks display at the beach, you are sure to walk away with memories that will last a lifetime.
