Visa Check Card

Combine all the benefits of an ATM Card with the worldwide shopping acceptance of Visa®. It looks like a credit card, but works like an electronic check. You can use it to pay for purchases anywhere you see the Visa® symbol and the purchase amount is automatically deducted from your checking account.

Visa Check Card lets you:

  • Pay for purchases around the world without the hassle of writing a check, showing ID or waiting for check approval
  • Shop by phone and online
  • Keep track of purchases -- every card purchase is itemized on your monthly checking account statement to include the merchant description and date

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Am I protected if my card is lost or stolen?
A. Yes. You are not liable if you notify The State Bank or call 800.236.2442 within two business days of discovering that your card is lost or stolen.

Q. How does My Visa Check Card differ from a credit card?
A. With a credit card, you're borrowing money with the intent to pay it back either in full or over time. With your Visa Check Card, you're using funds directly from your checking account. The purchase amount is automatically deducted from your checking account just like with a check. Each transaction amount, with the merchant description and date, is detailed on your monthly statement.

Q. Do I have a daily spending limit?
A. Our personal bankers will give you more information about your daily limit when you apply for the card.

Q. How do I use the card to obtain cash?
A. If you are traveling and need cash, you can visit any financial institution that offers Visa and obtain a cash advance by presenting your Visa Check Card at the teller window. You can also use the card to get cash at any ATM displaying the NYCE® or Plus® logo, or ask for cash back when you use your card to make a purchase. Remember, the availability of the cash is limited by the balance in your checking account.
